Cheerful Salon Concert at the 1st Sunday of Advent

It was an unconventional setting that, for the second time already, we had chosen for one of our concerts:

The Coloratur Jung is theoretically a highly respectable hairdresser's, which, however, thanks to its owner Matthias Jung-Kipsch's wonderfully anarchic charisma, changes its dedication once a month.

In a friendly ambience, with candle light, red plush seats, glogg and cake, the hairdresser's mutates into an artistic salon and hosts poetic readings, as well as concerts, fairy tale evenings, or travesty shows, free of charge for both, artists and audiences.

For the last time of the year, it was our turn to bring the (irish) spirits into the house and enthuse the spectators with our newly enhanced repertoire including, for instance, Dafydd of the White Rock, Greensleeves, Ashgrove, or some shanties. NĂ Gudix' translations of some Irish traditionals, as always, found a thankful audience as well. The evening was well-attended, meaning that getting a seat was already difficult half an hour before the beginning. The atmosphere left nothing to be desired.

For some of the technically more challenging songs we had rehearsed in Klosterdorf, such as "Maids when You're Young" (...don't wed an old man!), it was a successful premiere. At the climax, the master hairdresser himself treated us to a little dance interlude in a Santa Claus costume, accompanying himself vocally with a Marlene Dietrich song.

This is how an invigorating, atmospheric evening faded out. The fact that several people from the audience asked about a CD of ours should give us inspiration and be a good New Year's resolution to us!
